Office Visit Review:
“Cannot recommend Dr. Ellsworth and his team enough. As a woman looking for good recommendations for a Mommy makeover, I only had Instagram posts to go by as many women aren’t openly recommending this procedure on Google reviews as they are public and not anonymous… consult with Dr. Ellsworth and his staff if you are shopping around for a plastic surgeon, you will NOT regret it!”

Who Is An Ideal Candidate For Liposuction?
Liposuction is a good procedure for men and women who are at a healthy weight but have pesky areas of fat that have been hard to lose with exercise and diet. Individuals contemplating liposuction should have skin that is taut because liposuction does not address loose or sagging skin. It is also important to realize that liposuction is not an answer to losing weight. Women having liposuction should be past pregnancies as this could compromise the results. During your initial consultation, Dr. Ellsworth will discuss realistic expectations.
How Is Liposuction Surgery Performed?
Surgical liposuction is performed as an outpatient procedure with the patient under general anesthesia. A very small incision is made in the skin and a cannula will be placed. A cannula is a tool that helps loosen the fat as it is being removed. Once the fatty deposits have been suctioned out, Dr. Ellsworth will close the incision. Depending on the number of areas receiving treatment, your surgery could last 1 – 3 hours. In the dedicated recovery area, your post-op team will help manage any pain and care for your incisions until you are discharged.
What Can Patients Expect Following Liposuction?
You may need to recover at home from lipo for 1 – 3 weeks based on the number of areas treated and the size of the treatment area. It is normal to see swelling and bruising for 1 – 2 weeks, and you can have the sutures removed in 7 – 10 days. What is most important after having lipo surgery is to allow your body time to recover and heal. When you are ready to return to work after your procedure, you need to remember to go slow. To build up your strength, stick to short walks and light workouts as advised by Dr. Ellsworth. Keep in mind, you may see some changes after six weeks, but it takes 6 – 10 months before your new body shape and contour are attained.
Liposuction FAQ
ModelThe price of liposuction varies based on the technique being used and how many areas are being addressed. In your consultation, Dr. Ellsworth will create your custom liposuction surgical plan based on your needs and goals. He will also take into consideration your budget. Once your plan is ready, estimated costs can be discussed. To help make your cosmetic surgery affordable, Ellsworth Plastic Surgery accepts several payment options, and we can help you find low-interest financing.
There are many nonsurgical options to reduce fat. Some of the most popular brands are CoolSculpting®, UltraShape®, Vanquish™, KYBELLA®, and Liposonix®. While these nonsurgical treatments may help some patients reduce small amounts of fat, liposuction is best for most people. Liposuction surgery produces more consistent and dramatic results.
Surgical liposuction only corrects excess fat in the body. For loose skin, Dr. Ellsworth may recommend combining liposuction with a lift surgery. Liposuction is often done with skin tightening surgery, such as a tummy tuck, thighplasty, or arm lift, to give you the best results. To correct cellulite, there are many minimally invasive and nonsurgical treatment options, including VelaShape®, Cellulaze™, VASER® Shape, and Venus Freeze™. During your consultation, tell Dr. Ellsworth about all your concerns like loose skin and cellulite — so your best treatment plan is created.
Since liposuction is an invasive surgery, incisions will be made and sutured. These will cause scars, but Dr. Ellsworth does his best to reduce their appearance. This starts with making small, thin incisions in less visible areas or the natural folds of your body. After your surgery, Dr. Ellsworth or a member of his team will explain how to care for your stitches — so they heal flat and eventually fade.
Before liposuction, it is important to be prepared to maintain your results. Although liposuction reduces the number of fat cells in your body, you can still lose and gain weight. Dr. Ellsworth recommends that you be at or close to a healthy weight before having liposuction. Afterward, it is best to remain within 5 – 10 pounds of your post-surgical weight. Getting pregnant after liposuction will also affect your results; however, a second surgery like a mommy makeover can be performed to refresh your body.
